Derbyshire Councillor of the Year Award

Derbyshire Councillor of the Year Award

Derbyshire Association of Local Councils Excellence Awards 2019

Middleton Parish Council is pleased to report that Cllr Olwen Wilson was presented with the DALC Councillor of the Year Award at the AGM held at the Proact Stadium, Chesterfield on Tuesday 22nd October 2019.

Cllr Wilson was nominated by fellow Councillors in recognition of her huge commitment, zest and energy in bringing the Middleton Remembers Project to fruition.

This community project marked the centenary of the end of the First World War and involved every sector of the village. It has produced the Middleton Memorial and, through research, has helped develop knowledge about those men from the village who were killed or wounded in the 1914-18 conflict and given an understanding of social and economic life in the village at the close of the war and the years immediately afterwards

Cllr Wilson said: "I was very honoured and humbled to receive the award. A project like Middleton Remembers cannot be delivered by one person - it has been a real team effort."
