Vacancies, Co-option update, Precept, District and Parish Council Elections, Middleton Memorial
The Parish Council currently vacancies for three councillors. If you would like to discuss the role or to considered for co-option please contact the Parish Clerk.
We also have a vacancy for a part time seasonal caretaker commencing 1st April 2019. Work involved includes strimming, mowing, litter picking, general maintenance, footpath clearance and sweeping, bulb/flower planting. Closing date is 9am Thursday 28th February 2019 and interviews will take place on the evening of 11th March 2019. £8.36/hour. Job share considered.
We welcome a new member to the Council Cllr Tina Hymas Taylor who was co-opted at a meeting held on 14th January 2019. We wish her every success in her new role.
January is traditionally the month that the Council considers budgets for the next financial year and decides the precept. Following detailed analysis and careful consideration, Middleton Parish Council's precept has been set at £12,800 which represents a "band D equivalent" increase of 4%.
District and Parish Council Elections - 2nd May 2019
Election Day for District and Parish Councils is Thursday 2nd May 2019 with all seats up for election. Derbyshire Dales District Council is arranging a briefing for prospective candidates at Matlock Town Hall at 6pm on Tuesday 19th February 2019; and is open to anyone interested. There will be a further briefing for confirmed candidates (and their agents) on Tuesday 9th April 2019 also at 6pm at Matlock Town Hall where election "do's and don'ts" and details of the counting arrangements will be covered.
The Returning Officer will accept nominations at Matlock Town Hall
18 March – 3 April (between 10am and 4pm)

Whilst not mandatory, candidates are strongly advised to make an appointment during the above times, by calling 01629 761335, to avoid delay and to allow the Returning Officer and her staff to carry out an informal check of the nomination so that any errors or omissions can be rectified prior to formal submission.
Two quotations were received for the construction of the Middleton Memorial and L Petts was appointed as the contractor for the works.

- 6.30pm Monday 8th April 2019 Annual Parish Meeting (which is not a meeting of the Parish Council)
- 6.45pm Monday 8th April 2019
Unless otherwise stated Middleton Parish Council meets in the Committee Room of the Village Hall at 6.30pm on the second Monday of the month (except August). Members of the public are welcome to attend and may make representations during Public Speaking.
