Middleton Remembers: Consultation on siting of Middleton Memorial and Heritage Research Volunteering Opportunity

A well-attended meeting at the Village Hall on 25th July 2018 heard of plans for the Middleton Memorial and proposals for the Heritage Research project.

Following the meeting, the Parish Council has written to residents to seek the views of the wider community on the siting and design of the Memorial and to invite volunteers to take part in the Heritage Research Project.

Middleton Remembers; Open Meeting 6pm Wednesday 25th July 2018

There will be an open meeting about the "Middleton Remembers" project in the Village Hall at 6pm on Wednesday 25th July 2018.

The project commemorates the centenary of the end of the First World War.

DCC Action grants programme

Derbyshire County Council's Action grant's programme is focusing on local communities and aims to encourage groups with good ideas to make their communities better places to live.

Funding is available for

  • 750 Youth Activity Grants (500 Universal: 250 Enhanced)
  • 500 Community Safety Grants
  • 375 Community Activity
  • 375 Physical Activity and Sport Grants

National Lottery support for Middleton Remembers First World War project

Middleton Parish Council has received a National Lottery grant of £9,900 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for the Middleton Remembers project. Awarded through HLF's First World War then and now programme, the project will find out as much as possible about the soldiers of Middleton who died during the First World War in time for the centenary of the end of the war in November this year.

Chair's Report 2018

The Annual Meeting of the Parish Council took place on Monday 14th May 2018 where Cllr Dawn Greatorex was re-elected Chair and Cllr Rob Rawlinson vice Chair.

Estimates invited for the repainting of the Millennium Garden Gates

THIS TENDER HAS NOW CLOSED

The Parish Council is seeking priced estimates for the repainting of the Millennium Garden Gates and arch, Millennium Garden, Middleton by Wirksworth.

Work to include:

  • Removal of existing treatments and cleaning (this may require removal from site and subsequent reinstatement)
